DURABLE SHARPNESS
X30Cr13 is the secret of the high-quality stainless steel and delivers durable sharpness thanks to its individual qualities. The forged knives in the ActiveCut series are honed twice during the final sharpening process – this gives them their special sharpness.

PERFECT FOR THE PROFESSIONAL KITCHEN
The knife fits comfortably in your hand. The handle is made of a non-slip and abrasion-resistant material, preparing you for all challenges in the kitchen. Now, wet hands and hygiene are no longer a problem. The handle and the blade are joined without gaps and therefore absolutely hygienic. In addition, the ActiveCut knives are perfectly balanced, which means that this knife's centre of gravity is exactly in the middle of the knife, between the blade and the handle. This supports you in your daily tasks and saves your strength.

MADE IN GERMANY
The ActiveCut series is made in Germany. A good knife requires many work steps. Our ActiveCut knives go through numerous production steps at our Deizisau site before they are finished. Starting with the machining of the steel and right through to the finishing of the cutting edge.

KNIFE CARE
All F. DICK knives deserve special care and attention when it comes to maintenance. Proper knife care is crucial. Knives that are forged or have a wooden handle should never be cleaned in the dishwasher. Knives with plastic handles are completely dishwasher safe; however cleaning in a dishwasher is much more aggressive than washing by hand.

The use of highly concentrated detergents, leaving the knives in hot steam for a long time and also the presence of certain food residues can lead to pitting on the blades or even corrosion. We recommend clean the knife by hand with a soft cloth and a mild alkaline detergent. Wipe your knife after cleaning to ensure that tit is thoroughly dry – this will prevent any pitting on the blade. You can occasionally maintain knives with wooden handles with food-safe oils (e.g. olive oil). The oil makes the handle nice and smooth and prevents shrinkage and cracks.

PROFESSIONAL KNIFE STORAGE
For your safety and to protect the cutting edges of the blades, we recommend that you store the knives in a suitable knife block or on a magnetic rail. When buying a knife block, make sure you buy one with enough space and horizontal slots to protect the knife blades. We recommend our own blade guard for storage in a drawer - Edge Guard. or alternatively, dimensionally accurate compartments built into the drawer.

BLADE GUARD FOR KNIVES
Blade guard – Edge Guard, the special blade guard for storage, especially in drawers. Click here to see the blade guard for blades up to 26 cm.

KNIFE BLOCK FOR KNIVES
Knife block: Knife block with tourne knife, paring knife, boning knife, carving knife, bread knife, chef's knife, meat fork, sharpening steel and kitchen shears.

HOW DO KNIVES STAY SHARP FOR A LONG TIME?
Knives stay sharp for a long time if they are only used for their intended purpose. The knives should only be used for cutting and not chopping. Bones or the like should therefore only be cut with a cleaver.

WOODEN OR PLASTIC CUTTING BASES
Hard surfaces such as stone (e.g. marble) or glass should not be used as a base, as they quickly blunt the knives.

People Also Ask:

Q: What is the F. Dick ActiveCut Serrated Utility Knife best used for?

A: The F. Dick ActiveCut Serrated Utility Knife is best suited for precise slicing tasks where a serrated edge improves grip and cutting performance, including breads, tomatoes, citrus, sandwiches, cooked proteins, and packaged deli products. Built within the ActiveCut Series, this knife is designed to deliver dependable professional performance with practical day-to-day versatility. The serrated blade helps maintain cutting efficiency on foods with tough exteriors and softer interiors, reducing tearing and improving presentation quality during prep and service. Beyond the technical features, what matters most is how this performs in a busy working environment. For deli counters, butcher shops, cafés, sandwich stations, and culinary training kitchens, the knife supports fast repetitive cutting with consistent control and less pressure required from the user. The ergonomic black handle also supports extended use by helping reduce hand fatigue during repetitive prep work. Combined with German blade engineering and balanced handling, the knife becomes a practical everyday tool for operations that prioritize efficiency and clean presentation.

Q: Who should use the F. Dick ActiveCut Serrated Utility Knife?

A: The F. Dick ActiveCut Serrated Utility Knife is designed for culinary students, professional cooks, deli staff, foodservice operators, and serious home users looking for reliable daily cutting performance. F. Dick developed the ActiveCut Series as a professional-grade entry point into German forged knives, making it especially attractive for training kitchens and high-use commercial environments where durability, comfort, and easy maintenance matter. The knife delivers the handling and balance professionals expect without moving into ultra-premium pricing territory. For butcher shops and prepared-food counters, the serrated utility format is particularly useful because it handles a wide range of products quickly without requiring constant sharpening between shifts. In practical terms, this means smoother workflows, cleaner cuts, and better consistency across staff members with different skill levels. Serious home cooks also benefit from the knife’s professional ergonomics and versatile blade profile, especially when preparing sandwiches, crusted breads, vegetables, and ready-to-serve items.

Q: Why would a kitchen choose a serrated utility knife instead of a straight-edge utility knife?

A: A serrated utility knife is often preferred when cutting foods with delicate interiors or textured exteriors because the serrations grip the surface more effectively and reduce crushing. This makes the F. Dick ActiveCut Serrated Utility Knife particularly useful for foods like tomatoes, crusty breads, sandwiches, smoked sausages, and citrus fruits. Instead of relying on downward pressure alone, the serrated edge creates a controlled sawing action that preserves product structure and improves visual presentation. From an operational perspective, serrated blades also tend to maintain effective cutting performance longer between sharpenings in high-volume environments. That becomes especially valuable in deli operations, cafés, catering prep stations, and grab-and-go production where speed and consistency are critical. Combined with the forged construction and ergonomic ActiveCut handle design, the knife offers a dependable balance between precision, comfort, and daily durability.

Q: Can the F. Dick ActiveCut Serrated Utility Knife handle high-volume deli and sandwich prep?

A: Yes. The F. Dick ActiveCut Serrated Utility Knife is well suited for repetitive deli, sandwich, and prepared-food prep tasks in fast-paced commercial environments. The serrated blade profile helps staff move efficiently through crusted breads, layered sandwiches, tomatoes, cooked meats, and packaged deli products without excessive force. This improves cutting speed while helping preserve food appearance during service preparation. That’s where the ActiveCut Series becomes a real operational advantage. The forged blade construction provides stability and balance, while the ergonomic handle supports repetitive use during busy shifts. For operators managing lunch rushes, catering production, or grab-and-go programs, those small workflow improvements can add up significantly over time. Compared with lower-cost stamped utility knives, the ActiveCut line is designed to offer a more professional feel and longer-term reliability under commercial usage conditions.

Q: Is the F. Dick ActiveCut Serrated Utility Knife suitable for culinary students and apprentices?

A: Yes. The ActiveCut Series was specifically developed to give culinary students and apprentices access to true professional knife handling at a more accessible investment level. The knife combines forged construction, balanced weight distribution, ergonomic grip design, and durable German steel performance in a format that supports skill development without overwhelming newer users. This makes it ideal for culinary schools, apprenticeship programs, and training kitchens. For students learning knife control, the serrated utility format also adds confidence when working with softer or slippery foods. The blade naturally grips the product surface more effectively, helping reduce slipping during slicing tasks. From a business perspective, this makes the knife an excellent fit for culinary education programs looking for durable tools that can withstand daily instructional use while supporting proper technique development.

Q: Can this knife be used in both front-of-house and back-of-house environments?

A: Yes. The F. Dick ActiveCut Serrated Utility Knife performs well in both preparation kitchens and customer-facing service environments. In back-of-house operations, it supports prep tasks involving breads, vegetables, cooked proteins, and deli items. In front-of-house applications such as sandwich stations, open kitchens, and deli counters, the knife delivers clean, controlled slicing with a professional appearance. The sleek black ergonomic handle also contributes to a clean, modern presentation that fits naturally into contemporary foodservice environments. Combined with its manageable utility size, the knife remains easy to control during fast-paced service. Whether used by prep cooks, deli staff, or culinary students, the knife supports operational consistency while maintaining professional cutting performance.

Q: How durable is the F. Dick ActiveCut Serrated Utility Knife?

A: The F. Dick ActiveCut Serrated Utility Knife is built for daily professional use with forged construction and durable German stainless steel designed to withstand repetitive commercial prep work. The ActiveCut Series uses professional-grade steel engineered to balance edge retention, toughness, and practical resharpening characteristics. This helps the knife maintain reliable cutting performance across demanding kitchen environments. Beyond the technical specifications, durability also comes from ergonomic stability and balanced handling. The secure handle design helps reduce unnecessary wrist strain and improves user control during repetitive cutting tasks. For operators managing busy kitchens, deli counters, or training programs, that combination of durability and ease of handling contributes to longer service life and more dependable day-to-day performance.

Q: What kind of cutting performance should users expect from the serrated blade?

A: Users should expect smooth, controlled slicing performance on foods that are difficult to cut cleanly with straight-edge knives. The serrated edge grips food surfaces effectively, allowing the knife to move through crusted breads, tomatoes, cooked sausages, sandwiches, and citrus products with less crushing or tearing. This improves presentation quality while reducing user effort. In practical terms, this means faster prep speeds, cleaner slices, and more consistent portion presentation during service. For deli operations and sandwich production environments, these details directly impact both efficiency and food appearance. Combined with the forged balance of the ActiveCut Series, the knife provides stable handling that feels controlled and responsive during repetitive prep work.

Q: Does the F. Dick ActiveCut Serrated Utility Knife stay sharp for daily commercial use?

A: Yes. Serrated utility knives generally maintain effective cutting performance longer than straight-edge utility knives in repetitive slicing applications, and the ActiveCut construction further supports long-term reliability. Because the serrations create multiple cutting contact points, the blade continues performing efficiently even after extended commercial usage. This makes the knife particularly useful for high-volume sandwich prep, deli production, and service-line applications. F. Dick’s professional knife heritage also supports easier long-term maintenance compared with many lower-cost utility knives. While serrated blades require specialized sharpening methods, the underlying steel quality helps preserve overall cutting effectiveness over time. For operators focused on workflow efficiency, fewer interruptions for sharpening can significantly improve prep consistency during busy service periods.

Q: Is the F. Dick ActiveCut Serrated Utility Knife comfortable for extended prep shifts?

A: Yes. The ergonomic handle design is intended to support comfort and control during repetitive daily prep work. The ActiveCut Series emphasizes balanced handling and secure grip ergonomics so users can maintain precision while reducing hand fatigue during longer shifts. This becomes especially important in deli production, sandwich prep stations, and catering environments where repetitive slicing occurs throughout the day. The handle profile also supports safe handling in fast-moving kitchens by helping improve grip stability during wet or high-pressure prep conditions. Combined with the relatively lightweight utility format, the knife offers strong maneuverability without feeling overly heavy or cumbersome during extended use.

Q: Is this knife easy to control for detailed slicing tasks?

A: Yes. The compact utility profile provides excellent maneuverability for controlled slicing and precision-oriented prep work. Unlike larger chef’s knives or slicing knives, the serrated utility format allows users to work comfortably in tighter prep areas and execute smaller cutting motions with greater precision. This is especially useful for sandwich preparation, garnish work, soft produce, and smaller deli applications. For culinary students and newer staff members, the smaller blade format can also feel less intimidating while still delivering professional-grade cutting performance. In practical terms, this means improved confidence, cleaner results, and better consistency during repetitive prep tasks.

Q: Is the F. Dick ActiveCut Serrated Utility Knife easy to maintain?

A: Yes. The knife is designed for practical professional use, combining durable steel construction with a blade format that maintains effective cutting performance over time. The serrated edge reduces the frequency of sharpening compared with straight-edge utility knives in similar applications. At the same time, the forged construction and professional materials support long-term durability under regular commercial cleaning and handling conditions. As with most professional knives, proper hand washing and safe storage are recommended to maintain edge quality and overall lifespan. Pairing the knife with appropriate knife storage and handling practices further protects both the blade and staff safety. That’s where a complete professional knife system becomes important. F. Dick’s broader ecosystem of sharpening tools, knife holders, and maintenance accessories helps operators maintain long-term cutting performance across the kitchen.

Q: What makes the ActiveCut Series different from entry-level stamped utility knives?

A: The ActiveCut Series delivers a more professional cutting experience through forged construction, improved balance, ergonomic handling, and higher-quality steel performance. Many entry-level utility knives focus primarily on affordability, often sacrificing long-term comfort, balance, and durability. ActiveCut was designed to bridge the gap between basic commercial knives and premium professional series by offering dependable German-engineered performance at a more accessible level. For culinary schools, restaurants, deli counters, and butcher operations, this creates a strong balance between cost control and professional usability. Users benefit from improved handling, more stable cutting control, and longer-term reliability during daily prep work. Combined with F. Dick’s professional sharpening ecosystem, the knife also integrates more naturally into long-term commercial knife management programs.

Q: What types of foods is this serrated utility knife most effective for?

A: The F. Dick ActiveCut Serrated Utility Knife performs especially well on foods with firm exteriors and softer interiors. This includes crusty breads, tomatoes, citrus fruits, sandwiches, bagels, cooked sausages, smoked meats, pastries, and packaged deli items. The serrated edge helps grip and separate the product cleanly while minimizing compression or tearing. For foodservice operations, this versatility reduces the need to switch constantly between different knives during prep. In practical terms, that can improve workflow speed while supporting more consistent presentation quality. Whether preparing grab-and-go meals, catering trays, or deli counter products, the knife offers reliable multi-purpose utility across a wide range of daily applications.

The result is a knife that performs professionally while remaining approachable for broader commercial use.

Q: How does the ActiveCut Series compare with standard consumer kitchen knives?

A: The ActiveCut Series is engineered for professional-level usage frequency, durability, and handling consistency beyond what most consumer kitchen knives are designed to support. Dick remains widely respected across culinary and butcher environments worldwide.
