Cleaning & Maintenance

> The base board can withstand all common detergents.
> The base board, including steel legs | rubber feet | click system, can be cleaned in a dishwasher or under the tap. The base board can also withstand scalding with boiling water.
> The base board will become scratched if it is used as a carving board for hot roasts and other foods. Depending on the foods for which it is used, the area of the base board used for cutting may become discoloured through time.
> The base board will expand when subjected to heat, for example in a dishwasher. It will, however, retract to its original size when cooled. Note that the base board and cutting sheets will only fit together properly if they are at the same temperature.

FAQ & Technical

FAQ & Technical

People Also Ask:

Q: Which Series 270 size should a customer order?

A: It follows bench depth and what is being worked. 30 x 40 suits a single station, 32.5 x 53 is the general professional size and takes the Gastronorm footprint, and 40 x 60 is for whole cuts and volume on a bakery-format bench.

Q: What separates Series 270 from Series 670?

A: The 270 is the professional line and it is the only one that accepts the Series 470 carving and chopping accessories. It also ships with six sheets rather than three. The 670 is the lighter board for customers who do not need a system.

Q: What is the click system?

A: Solid stainless steel pins in the base that the cutting sheet locates onto. It is what stops the sheet sliding while a knife is on it, and it is the difference between this and laying a mat on a board.

Q: What are the boards actually made of?

A: The base is prime virgin high density polyethylene, PEHD, which the manufacturer describes as virtually indestructible against cracking, warping, chipping, peeling and acid corrosion. The sheets are virgin polypropylene, PP.

Q: Are they certified?

A: Profboard products are NSF certified to NSF/ANSI 2. For accounts that specify certified equipment that answers the question before it is asked, and it is worth leading with on institutional business.

Q: Which six sheets are included?

A: Raw meat, poultry, seafood, vegetables, dairy and serving. Purple, which is allergens, is not in the set and is the natural add-on for any kitchen running a declared allergen process.

Q: Can hot pans be set down on the board?

A: No, and it is worth telling the customer plainly. Never place hot pots or pans directly on the base board. It is the most common way these boards get damaged.

Q: Will the base board mark if it is carved on directly?

A: Yes. The manufacturer states the base will scratch if used as a carving board for hot roasts, and the cutting area may discolour over time. That is exactly why the Series 470 carving board exists, and it is the reason to sell them together.

Q: What should be quoted alongside the base?

A: Sheets in the colours the kitchen uses hardest, and the 470 carving or chopping board if they handle meat. The base is the one-time sale; sheets are the repeat revenue.

Q: How should this range be positioned on a first conversation?

A: As a separation system, not as a cutting board. A customer comparing it with a plain board on price will not see the argument. A customer comparing it with buying six coloured boards immediately will.
