A: A reusable pack is included with every Sample Dome unit, and it is also sold separately. You buy this part to hold spares, not to complete a new display. The 16-inch Deluxe is the only model that ships with two packs; every other unit includes one.

A: Up to six hours. That figure describes the pack, not the food on the tray. Product type, room temperature and how often customers lift the dome all shorten how long the samples stay in condition. Use the six hours to plan a shift, and set your discard times against your local food safety requirements rather than against the pack.

A: At least one spare per active display, and two if you sample all day. The pack is the only part in the range that determines how long a display can trade. A frozen spare turns a six-hour ceiling into a full day, and it costs a fraction of any other component. This is the cheapest upgrade available to a sampling programme, and the one most often overlooked.

A: Yes, and it is the intended way to run a long day. Lift the tray, exchange the pack, replace the tray. The dome stays hinged to the bowl throughout and the display is out of service for under a minute. Rotate rather than waiting for the first pack to soften, because product that has already warmed does not come back.

A: Yes. It is made from food-safe material and sits in the bottom of the ice bowl, beneath the tray. In normal use the pack never contacts the samples directly. The tray sits between them.

A: Wipe clean and sanitise, the same as the tray and bowl. The surface is smooth with no seams or fabric, which is why it wipes down rather than needing to be washed. Do it every time it comes out of the bowl, not only when it looks dirty.

A: It is built to be reused indefinitely, so replace it on condition rather than on a schedule. Retire any pack that is split, weeping or no longer holding its shape. A leaking pack in a food display is a contamination problem, not a performance one.

A: The bowl is designed around a frozen pack, not loose ice. Loose ice produces meltwater with nowhere to go, and it puts the food closer to standing water. The pack keeps the cold dry, which is why the system uses one.

A: Yes, and for any operator running more than one display that is the practical routine. Freeze the whole set overnight and rotate through them during the day. Packs stack flat, so a normal back-of-house freezer holds enough for a full sampling programme.
