PROFESSIONALS TRUST US – FOR A LIFETIME
The knife is the extension of the chef's arm. With the Premier Plus series, your knife works practically by itself. This gives you time not only to concentrate on your craft, but also to give your creativity free rein to create exciting dishes. This is exactly what trained professional chefs and our top chefs appreciate about the F. DICK brand - quality that will accompany you for a lifetime.

FORGED BALANCE
All Premier Plus knives are forged and perfectly balanced. Already during the development of the knives, we placed special emphasis on optimising the weight distribution between the blade and the handle so that the knife feels light and comfortable in your hand. Imagine your handle is too heavy or your blade too heavy. Your knife would always tend towards the heavy side and you would have to fight against the weight when cutting. This will certainly not happen with Premier Plus knives.

SHARP
The blade is made of the high quality X50CrMoV15 steel alloy. Each component of this steel has its own impressive features. Thanks to the high carbon content, the edge retains its sharpness for a particularly long time, the chromium content reduces wear and the molybdenum makes your knife particularly corrosion-resistant. We have also decided to polish the cutting edge to give the knives a special sharpness. Premier Plus knives are uncompromising in their design when it comes to sharpness. The food is cut exactly and not broken or squashed. This way, you work with precise, clean cuts, allowing the variety of flavours in the dish to come to the fore.

ERGONOMIC HANDLE
The Premier Plus knives support you in your kitchen adventures. Our special handle concept also speaks for itself: The handle and blade are joined together without gaps, making them particularly hygienic and easy to maintain. The handle feels comfortable and adapts to your hand thanks to its ergonomic design. This is important to prevent your hand from tiring quickly when you use the knife for a long time.

KNIFE CARE
All F. DICK knives deserve special care and attention when it comes to maintenance. Proper knife care is crucial. Knives that are forged or have a wooden handle should never be cleaned in the dishwasher. Knives with plastic handles are completely dishwasher safe; however cleaning in a dishwasher is much more aggressive than washing by hand.

The use of highly concentrated detergents, leaving the knives in hot steam for a long time and also the presence of certain food residues can lead to pitting on the blades or even corrosion. We recommend clean the knife by hand with a soft cloth and a mild alkaline detergent. Wipe your knife after cleaning to ensure that tit is thoroughly dry – this will prevent any pitting on the blade. You can occasionally maintain knives with wooden handles with food-safe oils (e.g. olive oil). The oil makes the handle nice and smooth and prevents shrinkage and cracks.

PROFESSIONAL KNIFE STORAGE
For your safety and to protect the cutting edges of the blades, we recommend that you store the knives in a suitable knife block or on a magnetic rail. When buying a knife block, make sure you buy one with enough space and horizontal slots to protect the knife blades. We recommend our own blade guard for storage in a drawer - Edge Guard. or alternatively, dimensionally accurate compartments built into the drawer.

HOW DO KNIVES STAY SHARP FOR A LONG TIME?
Knives stay sharp for a long time if they are only used for their intended purpose. The knives should only be used for cutting and not chopping. Bones or the like should therefore only be cut with a cleaver.

WOODEN OR PLASTIC CUTTING BASES
Hard surfaces such as stone (e.g. marble) or glass should not be used as a base, as they quickly blunt the knives.

People Also Ask:

Q: What is the F. Dick Premier Plus Tomato Knife Black 5" best used for?

A: The F. Dick Premier Plus Tomato Knife Black 5" is designed for clean, precise slicing of tomatoes, soft fruits, sandwiches, and delicate produce with tough outer skins and soft interiors. Its serrated edge helps reduce crushing and tearing during slicing, which is especially important in deli counters, sandwich stations, prep kitchens, and high-volume foodservice environments where presentation and consistency matter. The compact 5" blade also gives operators greater control during repetitive prep tasks. Beyond the technical features, what matters most is how this performs in a busy kitchen. The Premier Plus series combines German blade craftsmanship with ergonomic handling, making it a dependable everyday utility knife for professionals who need efficiency and clean cuts throughout service.

Q: Who should use the F. Dick Premier Plus Tomato Knife?

A: The F. Dick Premier Plus Tomato Knife is ideal for chefs, sandwich shops, delis, cafés, catering teams, food retailers, and serious home cooks looking for precision when slicing delicate produce and prepared foods. Its compact profile and serrated cutting edge make it especially useful in environments where operators prepare tomatoes, buns, citrus, soft cheeses, or garnished plates repeatedly throughout the day. The knife supports both speed and presentation quality without requiring excessive force. From a workflow perspective, this type of knife becomes a daily-use tool rather than a specialty item. That helps improve prep consistency while reducing unnecessary strain during repetitive cutting tasks.

Q: What makes the Premier Plus series different from other F. Dick knife lines?

A: The Premier Plus series is one of F. Dick’s premium forged knife collections, developed for professional users who prioritize balance, durability, and long-term cutting performance. Unlike entry-level stamped series, Premier Plus knives feature forged construction and a more refined weight distribution that supports smoother cutting motion and improved control. The handle design is engineered for comfort during prolonged prep sessions, helping reduce fatigue in demanding kitchens. In practical terms, this means greater stability, a more professional feel in hand, and stronger long-term value for operators who rely on their knives daily.

Q: Can the F. Dick Premier Plus Tomato Knife handle high-volume prep environments?

A: Yes. The F. Dick Premier Plus Tomato Knife is built for repeated professional use in busy commercial kitchens and food preparation environments. The serrated edge maintains cutting effectiveness longer between sharpenings compared to many straight-edge utility knives, which is valuable in sandwich production, deli service, and produce preparation stations. Its forged construction also helps support long-term structural durability under continuous use. For operations focused on speed and consistency, this knife helps staff maintain clean presentation standards without slowing down prep workflows.

Q: Is the F. Dick Premier Plus Tomato Knife suitable for professional kitchens?

A: Yes. The Premier Plus series was developed specifically for professional culinary environments where balance, edge performance, and ergonomic comfort are essential. The knife’s compact size makes it highly maneuverable during precision prep work, while the serrated edge supports consistent slicing results on delicate or moisture-rich foods. This combination is particularly useful in restaurants, cafés, hotel kitchens, and retail foodservice operations. Combined with proper knife maintenance and sharpening practices, the knife is designed to deliver reliable daily performance in demanding professional settings.

Q: Can this tomato knife be used for foods other than tomatoes?

A: Yes. While optimized for tomatoes, the knife also performs well on citrus, soft fruits, crusty rolls, sandwiches, soft cheeses, and other foods with delicate interiors or textured exteriors. The serrated blade grips slippery surfaces effectively while minimizing compression during slicing. That versatility allows operators to use the knife across multiple prep stations without switching tools constantly. From a business perspective, multi-use knives improve efficiency and reduce unnecessary tool redundancy in the kitchen.

Q: How sharp is the F. Dick Premier Plus Tomato Knife?

A: The F. Dick Premier Plus Tomato Knife is engineered for professional-level cutting precision with a serrated edge that maintains effective slicing performance over extended use. Unlike straight-edge knives that may struggle with soft produce skins once slightly dulled, the serration pattern continues to cut efficiently with minimal pressure. This helps maintain cleaner slices and more consistent prep quality throughout service. That’s especially important in customer-facing food applications where presentation directly impacts perceived freshness and product quality.

Q: What kind of cutting performance should users expect from this knife?

A: Users should expect smooth, controlled slicing with minimal crushing, tearing, or slipping during prep. The forged blade construction contributes to stability and balance, while the serrated edge helps initiate cuts quickly on smooth or moisture-rich surfaces. The shorter blade length also improves maneuverability during precision tasks and repetitive prep work. In practical terms, this means cleaner cuts, better portion consistency, and improved operator confidence during fast-paced production.

Q: Is the F. Dick Premier Plus Tomato Knife durable enough for everyday use?

A: Yes. The Premier Plus series is designed for long-term professional use and daily commercial kitchen demands. The forged blade construction provides structural strength and stability, while the ergonomic handle is securely integrated for dependable handling during repetitive use. When maintained properly, the knife is capable of supporting years of regular kitchen service. Professional kitchens often prioritize tools that balance cutting performance with durability, and this knife is designed around that expectation.

Q: Does the serrated edge stay effective longer than a straight edge?

A: In many produce-focused applications, yes. Serrated edges often retain practical slicing performance longer because the cutting points experience less uniform wear during use. For tomatoes, crusty breads, citrus, and soft produce, this helps maintain efficient cutting even after extended prep sessions. It also reduces the need for constant touch-up sharpening during high-volume service periods. That makes serrated utility knives especially valuable in sandwich shops, delis, cafés, and retail foodservice operations.

Q: Is the F. Dick Premier Plus Tomato Knife comfortable for repetitive prep work?

A: Yes. The Premier Plus series is known for ergonomic handling designed to support prolonged professional use. The handle shape promotes a secure grip and balanced control, helping reduce fatigue during repetitive slicing tasks. This becomes especially important in prep-intensive environments where operators may handle knives continuously throughout a shift. Comfort directly affects workflow efficiency, consistency, and long-term operator satisfaction in commercial kitchens.

Q: Is this knife easy to control during detailed prep work?

A: Yes. The 5" blade length gives users strong maneuverability and precision during smaller prep tasks. The compact profile helps operators work efficiently in tighter spaces while maintaining accuracy during garnish work, sandwich assembly, fruit preparation, and fine slicing applications. The shorter blade also supports safer handling for many users compared to longer utility knives. For detail-oriented prep stations, precision and comfort often matter just as much as raw cutting power.

Q: Is the F. Dick Premier Plus Tomato Knife easy to maintain?

A: Yes. The knife is designed for practical professional maintenance routines. The serrated edge requires less frequent sharpening than many straight-edge utility knives used on produce, while the forged construction supports long-term structural reliability. Proper cleaning, safe storage, and professional sharpening when required will help maximize performance and lifespan. Combined with the broader F. Dick sharpening ecosystem, the knife integrates well into established professional knife-care programs.

Q: What is included with the F. Dick Premier Plus Tomato Knife?

A: The product includes one F. Dick Premier Plus Tomato Knife with a black ergonomic handle and a 5" serrated blade. The knife is intended as a standalone professional prep tool and can be integrated into existing knife kits, prep stations, or culinary tool collections. Many operators pair it with chef’s knives, utility knives, and sharpening tools from the broader F. Dick ecosystem. That flexibility makes it suitable for both individual professionals and multi-station kitchen operations.

Q: Why do professional kitchens choose serrated tomato knives instead of straight-edge utility knives?

A: Professional kitchens often choose serrated tomato knives because they provide cleaner results on delicate produce with less crushing and less slipping. Tomatoes, citrus, sandwiches, and soft bakery items can deform under excessive pressure from straight-edge blades. Serrated knives help initiate cuts more efficiently while preserving texture and presentation quality. For operators focused on speed, consistency, and merchandising appearance, that difference becomes highly valuable over time.

Q: How does the F. Dick Premier Plus Tomato Knife compare to lower-cost serrated utility knives?

A: The Premier Plus Tomato Knife is positioned as a premium professional tool with stronger balance, forged construction, ergonomic refinement, and long-term durability compared to many entry-level serrated knives. Lower-cost alternatives may perform adequately for occasional use, but professional environments often require better edge stability, handle comfort, and structural reliability during repetitive prep work. The Premier Plus series is designed around those professional expectations. That’s where premium construction and German manufacturing standards become a real operational advantage.

Q: How does the Premier Plus series compare to the F. Dick ProDynamic series?

A: Premier Plus is positioned as a higher-end forged professional series, while ProDynamic is designed as a more economical, practical everyday workhorse line. Premier Plus knives typically offer enhanced balance, refined ergonomics, and a more premium in-hand feel suited for chefs and professionals who prioritize long-term comfort and precision. ProDynamic focuses more heavily on affordability, utility, and high-volume practicality. Both series are professional-grade, but they serve different operational priorities and budget considerations.

Q: Is the F. Dick Premier Plus Tomato Knife reliable during continuous service periods?

A: Yes. The knife is designed for professional kitchens where consistent slicing performance and operator comfort are critical throughout long prep and service shifts. The forged construction, balanced handling, and durable serrated edge help maintain efficiency during repetitive station work involving tomatoes, sandwiches, garnishes, and produce prep. This supports smoother workflow execution during peak service hours. For chefs managing quality and speed simultaneously, dependable knife handling becomes an essential operational advantage.

Q: Is the F. Dick Premier Plus Tomato Knife a good fit for sandwich and deli preparation?

A: Yes. The knife is particularly well suited for sandwich stations and deli operations that require clean slicing of tomatoes, buns, wraps, soft cheeses, and prepared ingredients. The serrated edge helps minimize crushing and improves slice consistency, which supports better product presentation and portion quality. The compact blade also allows faster handling during repetitive assembly-line prep. In high-volume deli environments, efficiency and presentation directly influence customer perception and throughput.

Q: Is the F. Dick Premier Plus Tomato Knife worth it for serious home cooks?

A: Yes. Serious home cooks who value professional-grade tools will appreciate the knife’s precision, comfort, and long-term durability. Unlike many consumer-grade serrated knives, the Premier Plus series is built to professional standards with forged construction and ergonomic handling designed for repeated use. It delivers cleaner slicing performance and a more controlled cutting experience for everyday food preparation. Whether preparing fresh produce, sandwiches, or charcuterie boards, the knife brings commercial-level performance into the home kitchen.
