PROFESSIONALS TRUST US – FOR A LIFETIME
The knife is the extension of the chef's arm. With the Premier Plus series, your knife works practically by itself. This gives you time not only to concentrate on your craft, but also to give your creativity free rein to create exciting dishes. This is exactly what trained professional chefs and our top chefs appreciate about the F. DICK brand - quality that will accompany you for a lifetime.

FORGED BALANCE
All Premier Plus knives are forged and perfectly balanced. Already during the development of the knives, we placed special emphasis on optimising the weight distribution between the blade and the handle so that the knife feels light and comfortable in your hand. Imagine your handle is too heavy or your blade too heavy. Your knife would always tend towards the heavy side and you would have to fight against the weight when cutting. This will certainly not happen with Premier Plus knives.

SHARP
The blade is made of the high quality X50CrMoV15 steel alloy. Each component of this steel has its own impressive features. Thanks to the high carbon content, the edge retains its sharpness for a particularly long time, the chromium content reduces wear and the molybdenum makes your knife particularly corrosion-resistant. We have also decided to polish the cutting edge to give the knives a special sharpness. Premier Plus knives are uncompromising in their design when it comes to sharpness. The food is cut exactly and not broken or squashed. This way, you work with precise, clean cuts, allowing the variety of flavours in the dish to come to the fore.

ERGONOMIC HANDLE
The Premier Plus knives support you in your kitchen adventures. Our special handle concept also speaks for itself: The handle and blade are joined together without gaps, making them particularly hygienic and easy to maintain. The handle feels comfortable and adapts to your hand thanks to its ergonomic design. This is important to prevent your hand from tiring quickly when you use the knife for a long time.

KNIFE CARE
All F. DICK knives deserve special care and attention when it comes to maintenance. Proper knife care is crucial. Knives that are forged or have a wooden handle should never be cleaned in the dishwasher. Knives with plastic handles are completely dishwasher safe; however cleaning in a dishwasher is much more aggressive than washing by hand.

The use of highly concentrated detergents, leaving the knives in hot steam for a long time and also the presence of certain food residues can lead to pitting on the blades or even corrosion. We recommend clean the knife by hand with a soft cloth and a mild alkaline detergent. Wipe your knife after cleaning to ensure that tit is thoroughly dry – this will prevent any pitting on the blade. You can occasionally maintain knives with wooden handles with food-safe oils (e.g. olive oil). The oil makes the handle nice and smooth and prevents shrinkage and cracks.

PROFESSIONAL KNIFE STORAGE
For your safety and to protect the cutting edges of the blades, we recommend that you store the knives in a suitable knife block or on a magnetic rail. When buying a knife block, make sure you buy one with enough space and horizontal slots to protect the knife blades. We recommend our own blade guard for storage in a drawer - Edge Guard. or alternatively, dimensionally accurate compartments built into the drawer.

HOW DO KNIVES STAY SHARP FOR A LONG TIME?
Knives stay sharp for a long time if they are only used for their intended purpose. The knives should only be used for cutting and not chopping. Bones or the like should therefore only be cut with a cleaver.

WOODEN OR PLASTIC CUTTING BASES
Hard surfaces such as stone (e.g. marble) or glass should not be used as a base, as they quickly blunt the knives.

People Also Ask:

Q: What is the F. Dick Premier Plus 6" Utility Knife best used for?

A: The F. Dick Premier Plus 6" Utility Knife is designed for precise mid-size cutting tasks that require more control than a chef’s knife and more versatility than a paring knife. Its narrow blade profile makes it especially effective for trimming proteins, slicing sandwiches, preparing fruits and vegetables, portioning deli items, and handling detailed prep work in professional kitchens. The Kullenschliff edge helps reduce product sticking during slicing, which improves workflow speed and consistency during repetitive prep tasks. For chefs, butchers, deli teams, and culinary students, this knife fills an important gap between larger production knives and smaller precision tools. In practical terms, it becomes one of the most frequently used knives during service because it adapts quickly to multiple prep stations.

Q: Who should use the F. Dick Premier Plus Utility Knife?

A: The Premier Plus Utility Knife is ideal for professional chefs, butcher shop teams, culinary students, foodservice operators, and serious home cooks looking for reliable daily cutting performance. Its forged construction, balanced feel, and ergonomic handle make it suitable for users who spend long hours working on prep-intensive tasks. Unlike entry-level stamped utility knives, the Premier Plus series is engineered for continuous professional use where comfort, edge retention, and hygiene matter every day. Whether the environment is a restaurant prep line, grocery meat department, catering kitchen, or culinary classroom, this knife is built to support high-volume professional workflows.

Q: Can the F. Dick Premier Plus Utility Knife handle protein trimming and portioning?

A: Yes. The narrow, agile blade profile makes this knife highly effective for trimming proteins, portioning smaller cuts, and handling detailed knife work with control. The blade length offers enough reach for poultry, pork, and smaller beef prep tasks without feeling oversized or cumbersome. The Kullenschliff indentations also help reduce drag when slicing moist proteins or soft-textured foods. For butcher counters, deli production, and commercial prep kitchens, this creates smoother cutting motion and cleaner presentation while reducing hand fatigue during repetitive work.

Q: Is the F. Dick Premier Plus Utility Knife suitable for professional kitchens?

A: Absolutely. The Premier Plus series was developed specifically for demanding professional environments where durability, hygiene, balance, and edge performance are critical. The forged blade construction delivers stability and long-term reliability under continuous use. Combined with the seamless ergonomic handle design, the knife supports safe and comfortable handling during fast-paced prep shifts. In busy kitchens, utility knives are often among the most heavily used tools. That is where the Premier Plus series becomes especially valuable because it is engineered for consistent professional performance rather than occasional household use.

Q: Is this utility knife easy to control for detailed prep work?

A: Yes. One of the key advantages of a 6" utility knife is its balance between maneuverability and cutting capacity. Compared with larger chef’s knives, the slimmer blade profile allows tighter control when trimming, slicing, or performing detailed prep work. This is particularly useful when preparing garnishes, sandwiches, cheeses, fruits, or precision protein cuts. For culinary students and developing professionals, the knife also offers a confidence-building transition between smaller prep knives and larger production blades.

Q: How durable is the F. Dick Premier Plus Utility Knife?

A: The Premier Plus series is built for long-term professional use with forged German steel construction and a design focused on edge stability and durability. F. Dick is recognized globally for manufacturing knives that withstand demanding commercial kitchen and butcher environments. The blade geometry is engineered to maintain sharpness while remaining serviceable for regular professional sharpening routines. Beyond the steel itself, the handle construction is also designed for durability, helping prevent gaps, moisture intrusion, or hygiene concerns that can develop over time in lower-quality knives.

Q: What benefits does the Kullenschliff edge provide?

A: The Kullenschliff edge helps reduce friction and product sticking during slicing tasks. The hollow-ground indentations along the blade create small air pockets that help release food more efficiently from the cutting surface. This is particularly useful when slicing moist foods, soft proteins, cheeses, sandwiches, or cooked products that tend to cling to the blade. In practical kitchen workflows, this means smoother slicing, cleaner presentation, and improved efficiency during repetitive prep tasks.

Q: How sharp is the F. Dick Premier Plus Utility Knife?

A: The knife is engineered to deliver professional-level sharpness suitable for continuous commercial prep work. F. Dick knives are known for their cutting efficiency, polished edge geometry, and reliable edge retention. The Premier Plus series combines sharp initial performance with the ability to be resharpened effectively over years of use. For operators, this helps maintain cutting consistency while reducing tearing, crushing, or unnecessary pressure during prep.

Q: What kind of cutting experience should users expect from the Premier Plus series?

A: Users should expect a balanced, controlled, and highly stable cutting experience designed around professional daily use. The forged construction creates a solid feel in the hand without becoming excessively heavy. The ergonomic handle shape supports secure grip positioning during extended prep periods, helping improve comfort and control. Combined with the refined blade geometry, the result is a knife that feels responsive, predictable, and efficient across a wide range of kitchen tasks.

Q: Is the F. Dick Premier Plus Utility Knife comfortable for extended prep shifts?

A: Yes. Comfort is one of the defining strengths of the Premier Plus series. The ergonomic black handle is shaped to reduce pressure points during repetitive cutting tasks, which becomes especially important in high-volume prep environments. The balanced construction also helps reduce wrist fatigue over long shifts. For professional users working several hours per day with knives in hand, these ergonomic advantages can significantly improve workflow efficiency and overall comfort.

Q: Is the Premier Plus Utility Knife easy to maintain?

A: The knife is designed for professional maintenance routines and long-term serviceability. Regular honing with a quality sharpening steel helps maintain edge alignment between sharpenings, while periodic professional sharpening restores peak cutting performance. The seamless handle construction also supports easier sanitation and hygiene compliance. In practical terms, this knife is built not only to perform well initially, but to remain dependable over years of daily professional use.

Q: Does this knife work well in high-volume foodservice environments?

A: Yes. The Premier Plus series was developed specifically for demanding commercial environments where consistency and durability are essential. Its forged blade, ergonomic handling, and reliable cutting performance make it well suited for restaurants, butcher shops, catering operations, grocery prep departments, and culinary institutions. For operations managing repetitive prep tasks throughout the day, the knife delivers the control and durability needed to maintain productivity and presentation quality.

Q: What makes the Premier Plus series different from entry-level kitchen knives?

A: Premier Plus knives are engineered for professional-grade performance, durability, and long-term reliability rather than occasional household use. Compared with entry-level knives, the forged construction delivers improved balance and stability, while the ergonomic handle supports extended daily use. The blade geometry is also refined for higher cutting efficiency and easier professional maintenance. From a business perspective, this means better workflow consistency, reduced replacement frequency, and stronger long-term value for professional kitchens.

Q: Why do professional chefs choose forged utility knives like the Premier Plus?

A: Forged knives are often preferred because they provide greater structural strength, balance, and cutting stability. The forging process creates a more solid blade construction that supports demanding daily use. Professional users also tend to appreciate the controlled feel and smoother cutting motion that forged knives provide during repetitive prep tasks. For chefs and butchers working in fast-paced environments, these advantages contribute directly to comfort, precision, and operational efficiency.

Q: What types of kitchens benefit most from this knife?

A: The knife performs especially well in restaurants, butcher shops, grocery meat departments, catering operations, culinary schools, and serious home kitchens. Its versatility makes it valuable anywhere detailed prep work, slicing, trimming, or portioning tasks occur regularly. Because the knife bridges the gap between larger chef knives and smaller prep knives, it often becomes a primary day-to-day utility tool across multiple stations. That flexibility is one reason utility knives remain essential in professional culinary workflows.

Q: How does the Premier Plus Utility Knife compare to stamped utility knives?

A: The Premier Plus series offers a more refined professional cutting experience with greater balance, durability, and long-term performance. Stamped knives are often lighter and lower in cost, but forged knives like the Premier Plus typically provide improved structural stability and a more controlled feel during demanding prep work. The ergonomic handle and blade finish are also designed for extended commercial use. For professionals who rely on their knives every day, these differences become increasingly important over time.

Compared with entry-level series like ProDynamic, Premier Plus delivers a more refined feel and stronger balance for intensive daily use. Compared with more visually specialized series like Red Spirit, Premier Plus focuses more heavily on traditional professional ergonomics and classic workflow efficiency. This makes it especially appealing for chefs and operators who prioritize dependable all-day performance.

Q: Is the Premier Plus Utility Knife reliable during fast-paced service prep?

A: Yes. The knife is designed for consistent professional performance during high-volume prep and service environments. Its balanced forged construction and ergonomic handling support fast repetitive cutting while maintaining control and comfort. The Kullenschliff edge also helps improve slicing efficiency during prep-heavy workflows. For restaurant teams managing speed, consistency, and presentation simultaneously, this reliability becomes a major operational advantage.

Q: Does this knife support precision merchandising prep?

A: Absolutely. The narrow utility blade profile is highly effective for detailed slicing, trimming, and portion presentation work. Because the knife is engineered for long-term professional use, many culinary professionals continue using it throughout their careers.
