A: The round metal base and the height-adjusting pole that together turn a Sample Dome into a freestanding floor display. Sold as the pair, because they are a matched assembly. The pole threads into the base rather than pushing into it.

A: It raises the display to roughly 38 inches from the floor, and adjusts below that. That is the height at which self-serve sampling works, roughly where an adult's hands naturally fall. Lower settings are useful for seated areas or where children are the audience. Set the height before loading the display, not after.

A: No. The countertop units use a fixed 7-inch pole that friction fits into a plastic coupler. This assembly is longer, adjustable, and threads into a weighted metal base. The two are not interchangeable.

A: The top of the pole friction fits into the plastic coupling on the underside of the ice bowl. The bottom threads into the hole in the base, and twists tight. That threaded joint at the bottom is what makes a floor unit stable. A friction fit there would not hold a loaded dome at height.

A: To replace a damaged or missing base and pole, or to convert between locations if you already own the dome, tray and bowl. The display components above the pole are the expensive part and the part that wears. Base and pole assemblies usually outlast several sets of domes.

A: The base is a weighted round metal plate, which is what resists a knock rather than the pole itself. Even so, site any floor display off the natural walking line and away from doors. No freestanding unit survives repeated contact, and a taller display carries its weight higher.

A: No. The pole threads into the base by hand and friction fits into the bowl above. One person can assemble or dismantle it, which matters because floor stands get relocated far more often than countertop units.

A: Metal, for both the base and the pole. Weight in the base is a feature, not a side effect. A light base under a loaded 16-inch dome would be unstable no matter how well the joints fit.

A: Wipe it down when the unit is dismantled. It sits below the food area and does not contact product, so it does not need sanitising alongside the tray and bowl. The base does collect floor debris, so it should not be ignored either.

A: No. The rubber stopper that seats in the bottom of the ice bowl is a separate item. If you are rebuilding a floor stand from parts, order the stopper at the same time, and tell us which display you are rebuilding so we can check the set is complete before it ships.
