PROFESSIONALS TRUST US – FOR A LIFETIME
The knife is the extension of the chef's arm. With the Premier Plus series, your knife works practically by itself. This gives you time not only to concentrate on your craft, but also to give your creativity free rein to create exciting dishes. This is exactly what trained professional chefs and our top chefs appreciate about the F. DICK brand - quality that will accompany you for a lifetime.

FORGED BALANCE
All Premier Plus knives are forged and perfectly balanced. Already during the development of the knives, we placed special emphasis on optimising the weight distribution between the blade and the handle so that the knife feels light and comfortable in your hand. Imagine your handle is too heavy or your blade too heavy. Your knife would always tend towards the heavy side and you would have to fight against the weight when cutting. This will certainly not happen with Premier Plus knives.

SHARP
The blade is made of the high quality X50CrMoV15 steel alloy. Each component of this steel has its own impressive features. Thanks to the high carbon content, the edge retains its sharpness for a particularly long time, the chromium content reduces wear and the molybdenum makes your knife particularly corrosion-resistant. We have also decided to polish the cutting edge to give the knives a special sharpness. Premier Plus knives are uncompromising in their design when it comes to sharpness. The food is cut exactly and not broken or squashed. This way, you work with precise, clean cuts, allowing the variety of flavours in the dish to come to the fore.

ERGONOMIC HANDLE
The Premier Plus knives support you in your kitchen adventures. Our special handle concept also speaks for itself: The handle and blade are joined together without gaps, making them particularly hygienic and easy to maintain. The handle feels comfortable and adapts to your hand thanks to its ergonomic design. This is important to prevent your hand from tiring quickly when you use the knife for a long time.

KNIFE CARE
All F. DICK knives deserve special care and attention when it comes to maintenance. Proper knife care is crucial. Knives that are forged or have a wooden handle should never be cleaned in the dishwasher. Knives with plastic handles are completely dishwasher safe; however cleaning in a dishwasher is much more aggressive than washing by hand.

The use of highly concentrated detergents, leaving the knives in hot steam for a long time and also the presence of certain food residues can lead to pitting on the blades or even corrosion. We recommend clean the knife by hand with a soft cloth and a mild alkaline detergent. Wipe your knife after cleaning to ensure that tit is thoroughly dry – this will prevent any pitting on the blade. You can occasionally maintain knives with wooden handles with food-safe oils (e.g. olive oil). The oil makes the handle nice and smooth and prevents shrinkage and cracks.

PROFESSIONAL KNIFE STORAGE
For your safety and to protect the cutting edges of the blades, we recommend that you store the knives in a suitable knife block or on a magnetic rail. When buying a knife block, make sure you buy one with enough space and horizontal slots to protect the knife blades. We recommend our own blade guard for storage in a drawer - Edge Guard. or alternatively, dimensionally accurate compartments built into the drawer.

BLADE GUARD FOR KNIVES
Blade guard – Edge Guard, the special blade guard for storage, especially in drawers. Click here to see the blade guard for blades up to 26 cm.

KNIFE BLOCK FOR KNIVES
Knife block: Knife block with tourne knife, paring knife, boning knife, carving knife, bread knife, chef's knife, meat fork, sharpening steel and kitchen shears.

HOW DO KNIVES STAY SHARP FOR A LONG TIME?
Knives stay sharp for a long time if they are only used for their intended purpose. The knives should only be used for cutting and not chopping. Bones or the like should therefore only be cut with a cleaver.

WOODEN OR PLASTIC CUTTING BASES
Hard surfaces such as stone (e.g. marble) or glass should not be used as a base, as they quickly blunt the knives.

People Also Ask:

Q: What is the F.Dick Premier Plus Chef Knife best for?

A: The F.Dick Premier Plus Chef Knife is best for everyday professional kitchen prep where clean, precise cutting and comfortable handling matter. As a chef knife, it is designed to be the central cutting tool at the station. It supports core prep work such as slicing vegetables, portioning boneless proteins, mincing herbs, and handling repetitive daily cutting tasks with control. The Premier Plus series is built around forged balance, polished sharpness, and an ergonomic handle, giving chefs a dependable knife that feels steady through a full prep shift. For restaurants, caterers, culinary schools, and serious home kitchens, it is a strong all-purpose choice when one knife needs to handle many ingredients well.

Q: Who should use the F.Dick Premier Plus Chef Knife?

A: The F.Dick Premier Plus Chef Knife is suited for professional chefs, culinary students, foodservice teams, and serious home cooks who want a balanced German chef knife for daily prep. In a commercial kitchen, this knife supports the user who needs speed, precision, and comfort without moving into a highly specialized blade. It is especially useful for operators who value consistent performance, easy maintenance, and a professional-grade tool that fits into a broader knife program. For culinary education, it gives students a practical chef knife profile with the feel of a true professional tool. For serious home cooks, it brings the same disciplined, made-for-work performance into the home kitchen without feeling overly delicate or decorative.

Q: What makes the Premier Plus series different from other F.Dick knife series?

A: The Premier Plus series is a professional German knife line focused on clean cutting, forged balance, easy maintenance, and comfortable everyday use. Compared with more entry-focused or highly specialized F.Dick lines, Premier Plus sits in a dependable chef’s knife position: refined enough for precision prep, practical enough for daily service, and comfortable enough for longer cutting sessions. Its forged construction and optimized weight distribution help the knife feel stable rather than blade-heavy or handle-heavy. For Food Supplies customers, that balance is important. Restaurants, hotels, caterers, processors, and culinary schools are not simply buying a knife; they are investing in a tool that must perform reliably across staff, shifts, menus, and maintenance routines.

Q: Can the F.Dick Premier Plus Chef Knife handle daily prep in a busy restaurant kitchen?

A: Yes, the F.Dick Premier Plus Chef Knife is well suited for daily restaurant prep because it is forged, balanced, sharp, and built for professional handling. In practical terms, this means smoother workflows, consistent cuts, and less strain during repetitive tasks. The knife’s balanced construction helps the blade move naturally through vegetables, herbs, and boneless proteins, while the ergonomic handle supports control during longer prep sessions. For restaurants and foodservice operators, the advantage shows up in the rhythm of the kitchen. A dependable chef knife helps reduce hesitation at the board, supports cleaner presentation, and gives cooks a familiar tool they can trust through service preparation.

Q: Is the F.Dick Premier Plus Chef Knife suitable for culinary students?

A: Yes, the F.Dick Premier Plus Chef Knife is suitable for culinary students who are ready to train with a professional-grade chef knife. A culinary student needs a knife that teaches proper technique, not one that masks poor handling. The Premier Plus Chef Knife offers balance, sharpness, and ergonomic comfort, making it useful for learning foundational cuts, safe hand positioning, and daily knife maintenance. For culinary schools and training programs, this knife fits well where students are expected to work with tools that reflect real kitchen standards. It offers the performance needed for skill development while staying practical for repeated instructional use.

Q: Can the F.Dick Premier Plus Chef Knife be used in butcher shops or meat departments?

A: Yes, the F.Dick Premier Plus Chef Knife can support general prep in butcher shops and meat departments, especially for boneless cutting, trimming, and ingredient preparation. It should not replace a boning knife, breaking knife, cleaver, or other butcher-specific tool when the task requires a specialized blade. However, it can be valuable at the prep table for cutting vegetables, trimming boneless proteins, slicing cooked meats, and handling general back-of-house work. For independent food retailers and meat departments, this makes the Premier Plus Chef Knife a useful supporting tool within a broader professional cutlery setup. It helps teams maintain quality, speed, and consistency across everyday preparation.

Q: How sharp is the F.Dick Premier Plus Chef Knife?

A: The F.Dick Premier Plus Chef Knife is designed for first-class sharpness, with a polished cutting edge that supports clean, precise cuts. The blade uses X50CrMoV15 stainless molybdenum-vanadium steel, a professional knife steel selected for sharpness, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance. The polished edge helps the knife cut food cleanly rather than crush or tear it, which is especially important when presentation and texture matter. Beyond the technical features, what matters most is how this performs in your kitchen. Clean cuts help preserve ingredient structure, support better plate presentation, and allow chefs to work with confidence across vegetables, herbs, and boneless proteins.

Q: How durable is the F.Dick Premier Plus Chef Knife?

A: The F.Dick Premier Plus Chef Knife is built for long-term professional use when it is cleaned, stored, and maintained correctly. Its forged construction, high-quality stainless steel, and corrosion-resistant alloy support durability in demanding kitchen environments. The chromium content helps reduce wear, while molybdenum contributes to corrosion resistance, making the blade practical for regular commercial use. Durability still depends on the user’s care routine. This knife should be used for cutting, not for chopping through bones, opening packaging, or working on hard surfaces such as glass or stone. With the right cutting board, proper cleaning, and regular honing, it can remain a reliable part of the prep station for years.

Q: What results should chefs expect from the F.Dick Premier Plus Chef Knife?

A: Chefs should expect clean cuts, steady balance, comfortable handling, and dependable everyday performance from the F.Dick Premier Plus Chef Knife. This knife is not designed as a single-purpose specialty blade. It is built to support the daily fundamentals of professional prep: controlled slicing, efficient chopping motions on appropriate foods, accurate dicing, and confident ingredient handling. For high-volume kitchens, the benefit is consistency. For serious home cooks, the benefit is a more professional feel at the cutting board. For culinary students, the benefit is a knife that rewards proper technique and helps build disciplined habits.

Q: What cutting boards work best with the F.Dick Premier Plus Chef Knife?

A: The F.Dick Premier Plus Chef Knife should be used on wood or plastic cutting boards, not on glass, marble, stone, or other hard surfaces. Hard cutting surfaces can quickly dull the blade and reduce the clean cutting performance that the Premier Plus series is designed to deliver. A quality wooden or food-safe plastic board protects the cutting edge and supports safer, more controlled prep. For commercial kitchens, processors, and culinary schools, pairing the knife with the right cutting surface is part of the workflow. The right board helps extend edge life, protect the blade, and maintain the precision expected from a professional chef knife.

Q: What accessories should be used with the F.Dick Premier Plus Chef Knife?

A: The F.Dick Premier Plus Chef Knife pairs well with a suitable sharpening steel, blade guard, knife block, magnetic rail, or protected drawer storage. A sharpening steel helps maintain the cutting edge between deeper sharpening sessions, while proper storage protects both the blade and the user. Food Supplies also carries F.Dick sharpening steels and knife storage solutions, making the knife part of a broader professional cutlery system. For operators managing multiple knives across staff or stations, this system approach matters. Good accessories reduce damage, improve safety, and help keep knives service-ready through regular use.

Q: Is the F.Dick Premier Plus Chef Knife compatible with professional sharpening routines?

A: Yes, the F.Dick Premier Plus Chef Knife is compatible with professional sharpening routines and regular honing practices. The Premier Plus series is made with X50CrMoV15 steel at 56 HRC, a practical professional hardness that supports sharpness while remaining maintainable. This makes it a strong fit for kitchens that rely on regular edge care rather than replacing knives frequently. For foodservice teams, culinary schools, and processors, this is a business advantage. A knife that can be maintained consistently supports better cutting performance, less downtime, and a more professional prep environment.

Q: Is the F.Dick Premier Plus Chef Knife comfortable for long prep sessions?

A: Yes, the F.Dick Premier Plus Chef Knife is designed to feel comfortable during long prep sessions because of its ergonomic handle and balanced construction. The handle is shaped to adapt comfortably to the hand, helping reduce fatigue when the knife is used for extended periods. The blade and handle are also joined without gaps, supporting hygiene and easier maintenance in professional environments. For chefs and prep teams, comfort is not a luxury feature. It affects control, speed, safety, and consistency throughout the day. A well-balanced knife helps the user work with the tool rather than fight against it.

Q: How should the F.Dick Premier Plus Chef Knife be cleaned?

A: The F.Dick Premier Plus Chef Knife should be cleaned by hand with a soft cloth and mild alkaline detergent, then dried thoroughly after washing. Although some plastic-handled knives may tolerate dishwashers, hand washing is the preferred care method because dishwashers are aggressive on blades and can contribute to pitting or corrosion over time. The PDP specifically recommends hand cleaning and drying to help protect the blade. For commercial kitchens and culinary schools, this should be part of the knife-care routine. Proper cleaning protects the edge, preserves the blade surface, and supports the professional standards expected in food preparation environments.

Q: How should the F.Dick Premier Plus Chef Knife be stored?

A: The F.Dick Premier Plus Chef Knife should be stored in a knife block, on a magnetic rail, in a blade guard, or in a protected drawer compartment. Safe storage protects the user and helps prevent the cutting edge from becoming damaged. The PDP recommends proper knife blocks, magnetic rails, or blade guards, especially when knives are stored in drawers. In professional settings, storage also supports efficiency. When knives are protected, organized, and easy to access, teams spend less time searching for tools and more time preparing food with confidence.

Q: What sizes are available for the F.Dick Premier Plus Chef Knife?

A: The F.Dick Premier Plus Chef Knife is listed on FoodSupplies.ca with size options including 5, 6, 8.5, 9, 10, and 12 inches. Smaller sizes can be useful where control, lighter handling, or compact prep space is important. Larger sizes support longer slicing motions and higher-volume prep, especially when working with larger vegetables, proteins, or repeated production tasks. For most professional kitchens, the right size depends on the user, the station, and the menu. Culinary students and general prep cooks may prefer a more manageable size, while experienced chefs and production teams may choose longer blades for efficiency.

Q: What is included when purchasing the F.Dick Premier Plus Chef Knife?

A: The product listing is for the F.Dick Premier Plus Chef Knife itself, with size selection available on the PDP. Accessories such as sharpening steels, blade guards, knife blocks, and magnetic storage are separate considerations unless otherwise specified at purchase. This allows operators to choose the knife size and build the maintenance or storage setup that best fits their kitchen. For Food Supplies customers, that flexibility is helpful. A restaurant may need multiple chef knives across stations, while a culinary school may need a consistent knife format for training. A serious home cook may simply want one premium chef knife supported by proper storage and care.

Q: How does the F.Dick Premier Plus Chef Knife compare to Wüsthof Classic or Zwilling Pro chef knives?

Wüsthof and Zwilling are widely recognized German cutlery brands, and both are often considered by buyers looking for forged chef knives. The Premier Plus Chef Knife fits the same professional decision set, with made-in-Germany construction, X50CrMoV15 steel, 56 HRC hardness, optimum balance, and an ergonomic hygienic handle. Victorinox Fibrox is often considered when budget, lighter weight, or broad staff use is the main priority.
