People Also Ask:

Q: What is the ScanBox Under Counter HF05 designed for?

A: The ScanBox Under Counter HF05 holds and transports hot food in a cabinet low enough to roll under a worktop. It takes 5 GN 1/1 containers, enough for 30 to 50 portions, so a team can stage hot food right where it is plated or served instead of walking back to the kitchen.

Q: Who is the ScanBox Under Counter HF05 best suited for?

A: It suits operations that need hot holding close to the point of service without giving up floor space. Caterers, hotel banquet teams, institutional kitchens, grocery and deli hot food counters, and culinary schools all use under counter units this way, because the cabinet works under a pass, a buffet line or a prep bench.

Q: Will the ScanBox HF05 fit under my counter?

A: The HF05 measures 540 mm wide, 810 mm deep and 812 mm high, so it fits under any counter with at least 812 mm of clear height. Measure the clearance at its lowest point, including any brace or apron rail under the worktop, and allow room in front for the door to open fully.

Q: How much food does the ScanBox HF05 hold?

A: The HF05 holds 5 GN 1/1 containers, about 30 to 50 portions, with a maximum of 45 kg of food in total. Each level carries up to 9 kg, so spread heavy pans across the rails rather than loading one level with everything.

Q: How quickly does the ScanBox HF05 reach serving temperature?

A: The fan heating system brings the cabinet up to operating temperatures of up to 90°C in about 30 minutes. Preheat the empty cabinet before loading, so hot food goes into a warm space and keeps its temperature from the first minute.

Q: What temperature should I hold hot food at in the ScanBox HF05?

A: Canadian food safety guidance calls for hot food to be held at 60°C or higher, and the HF05 adjusts up to 90°C, so you can set it comfortably above that line. Use the ScanBox Digital Control to set and monitor the temperature, and follow the rules of your local public health unit for your type of operation.

Q: Can the ScanBox HF05 run on a standard Canadian outlet?

A: The listed specification is 100 to 125 V at 3.6 A and 385 W, which is well within a standard 15 A household or commercial circuit. Because it draws so little, it can share a circuit with other light equipment, but confirm the electrical configuration of your unit with our team when you order.

Q: What size of pans does the ScanBox HF05 take?

A: The HF05 is built for GN 1/1 gastronorm containers on removable U-guide rails with 80 mm spacing. For deeper pans, leave the rail above empty to double the available height, and keep the total load at or below 45 kg.

Q: How does the adjustable ventilation help food quality?

A: Ventilation controls how much moisture stays in the cabinet. Open it for fried or breaded items that need to stay crisp, and close it for braised dishes, rice and vegetables that should stay moist, so each menu item arrives the way the kitchen made it.

Q: Is the ScanBox HF05 easy to move when it is fully loaded?

A: Yes. The HF05 weighs 40 kg empty and up to about 85 kg with a full 45 kg load, and it rolls on 125 mm lockable castors with a One-Grip Handle. Lock the castors while loading and during service, and release them only when you are ready to move.

Q: Can the ScanBox HF05 be used for off-site catering?

A: Yes, the insulated cabinet is built to transport hot food as well as hold it. Secure it in the vehicle so it cannot roll, plug it in again on arrival to keep holding at temperature, and plan the loading order so the first course served goes in last.

Q: How does the ScanBox HF05 compare to the Under Counter HF05 Crosswise?

A: Both hold 5 GN containers with fan heating, but the Crosswise model (ELSUF05CW) is wider and shallower, at 750 mm wide by 580 mm deep against 540 mm by 810 mm for the HF05. Choose the HF05 when you have depth under the counter, and the Crosswise when your buffet or serving counter is shallow.

Q: What is the difference between the ScanBox HF05 and the Under Counter CC05?

A: The HF05 holds hot food, while the Under Counter CC05 (ELSUC05) is its cold counterpart with compressor cooling down to 3°C. Many operations pair one of each so hot and cold components of the same menu travel and wait side by side.

Q: How does the Ergo Line HF05 compare to the Banquet Line Under Counter?

A: The Banquet Line Under Counter (BLSUF05) takes larger GN 2/1 containers and up to 18 kg per level, in a 740 mm by 910 mm footprint. Choose the Ergo Line HF05 for standard GN 1/1 pans and a smaller footprint, and the Banquet Line when you work with the larger GN 2/1 pans.

Q: When should I choose a full height ScanBox instead of the under counter model?

A: Step up to a full height cabinet such as the Ergo Line HF12 (ELSHF12), which holds 12 GN 1/1 containers, when one service needs more than about 50 portions in one place. The under counter HF05 earns its place where space at the point of service is tight and volume is moderate.

Q: Can the ScanBox HF05 work front of house?

A: Yes. Its low height and black RAL 9005 finish let it sit under a buffet, carving station or serving counter without looking like back of house equipment, so food stays hot within reach of the team serving it.

Q: Is the ScanBox HF05 easy to clean?

A: The U-guide rails are removable, so the interior can be cleaned without working around fixed runners. Unplug the cabinet before cleaning, and follow the ScanBox care guidance for the electrical and control components.

Q: Can the ScanBox HF05 be customized?

A: Yes, the HF05 can be adapted through ScanBox extra options. Talk to a Food Supplies specialist about what your operation needs, and we will confirm which options apply to this model.

Q: Is the ScanBox HF05 suitable for training kitchens and culinary schools?

A: Yes. A compact hot holding cabinet lets students practise timing and holding the way a professional brigade does, and it fits classroom kitchens where floor space is limited. Food Supplies also supports culinary education, including Culinary Team Canada.

Q: Why buy the ScanBox HF05 from Food Supplies?

A: Food Supplies is the exclusive Canadian distributor of ScanBox, with warehouses in Etobicoke, Ontario and Langley, British Columbia. We have supplied professional kitchens since 1993, and our team can help you size the right ScanBox line for your menu, your space and your service.
